5VT (TWTC Hall 1 ¡V Booth #C533) and AXIMCom
(TWTC Hall 1 ¡V Booth #H208) are having DBM (Dynamic Bandwidth Management)
technologies showcased at COMPUTEX TAIPEI (June 3 ~ June 7, 2008).
¡P
Live demo of AXIMCom P2P Gear PG-116N
being provided. PG-116N is designed to solve the issue of unsatisfied network
access that mainly induced from the bandwidth hijack by the P2P software (eMule, BT, Foxy, alike). Enabled with the DBM Engine,
Session Manager, Throughput Optimizer and 802.11n technologies,
PG-116N can optimize bandwidth usage, maximize throughput and grant good
service quality for all users/applications.
TAIPEI, TAIWAN, June 3, 2008 ¡V 5V
Technologies, Ltd. and AXIM Communications Inc. today announced that they are demonstrating
their latest 802.11n router products which combining 5VT SoC Platform as well
as AXIMCom's world leading technologies like DBM
Engine, Session Manager and Throughput Optimizer at COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008.
The
5V Technologies (5VT) and AXIMCom solution combines
their respective 802.11n router and dynamic bandwidth management expertise to
allow equipment manufacturers to rapidly evaluate and develop cost-effective 802.11n
DBM Routers that supporting high-quality Internet access capability. The
solution integrates 5VT's cost-effective ARM9-based SOC (5VT13XX Series)
and AXIMCom's high-performance DBM Engine technology.
This solution is available as a reference design for qualified customers.
AXIMCom's DBM Engine (Dynamic
Bandwidth Management Engine) remedies both bandwidth competition and starvation
problems in today's broadband sharing environments. The issue mainly
comes from widely used P2P software which can hijack a network's entire
bandwidth and leave no resources for other applications. Since advanced P2P
software now has encrypted packages, it is impossible for ISPs and corporate
network administrators to block P2P usage. Unlike traditional ¡§static¡¨
bandwidth management technologies which require complicated bandwidth
limitation settings, the DBM Engine constantly monitors bandwidth usage,
automatically prioritizes traffic and dynamically assigns bandwidth to each
application over time. It is not only ¡§hassle-free¡¨ but also grants
optimal bandwidth utilization.
Furthermore, two paten
pending technologies ¡§Session Manager¡¨ and ¡§Through Optimizer¡¨
are also utilized to make the solution even more outstanding. ¡§Session
Manager Technology¡¨ remedies unstable network issues frequently seen in many
residential routers. A generic residential router usually reserves resources
for about 3,000 sessions. When sessions are used up, the router goes out of
service and the network becomes unavailable. Users have to reboot the router to
bring back network connectivity. Session Manager Technology can handle at least
15,000 sessions (numbers vary based on different models) with fast recycling to
clean up old un-used sessions. It not only guarantees a stable network, but
also allows more users and applications to share bandwidth. For heavy P2P
users, Session Manager obtains more download sources to achieve higher download
throughput. TCP/IP is designed based on the strong assumption that uploads
and download speeds are the same (symmetric). Due to this assumption, when the
upload bandwidth is fully occupied, download bandwidth is usually limited to
the same throughput level. Throughput Optimizer technology bypasses this
assumption and optimizes the download throughput according to the users'
broadband subscription, so there is no more waste of the bandwidth purchased
¡§AXIMCom
selects 5VT's high performance/cost SoC which enables the unique and
complex DBM technologies been realized on embedded systems. The combination of AXIMCom and the
5VT SoC makes our embedded devices with clear product differentiation
and leading market positioning.
Furthermore, with the responsive support form 5VT, AXIMCom
P2P Gear PG-116N is able to be rolled out in short lead time and also get
recognized by the contest committee of ¡§Best Choice of COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008
Award¡¨, said CK Wang, GM of AXIM Communications.
¡§Customers will
benefit from 5VT and AXIMCom's collective
expertise ¡V a proven and cost-effective SOC along with high-performance
dynamic bandwidth management technologies which usually only associated with
higher-end, expensive enterprise networking devices. A near-turnkey solution
with direct support from both companies would be a perfect time-to-market choice to all qualified customers.¡¨ said Jackson Chang,
CEO, 5V Technologies Ltd.
Using the powerful 300MHz
ARM9 processor with integrated peripherals specialized for CPE applications, 5VT has been recognized to be a ubiquitous chip supplier for
applications including IP phones, VoIP ATAs, VoIP
gateways, VoIP WLAN gateways, 802.11n WiFi AP routers
and other Integrated Access Devices (IADs). In production for over two years,
the 5VT1310, 5VT1312 and 5VT1314 devices have enabled many cost effective
designs while maintaining reliable performance. Each device is tailored and
packaged for a specific purpose.
